Do you use Pinterest?

Do you use photos or video to market your business?

Have you consider using Pinterest

I love Pinterest but just like other social media platforms it can easily distract me from writing a lesson plan or going through my to-do list. The images and videos pinned by others have provided me with a list of holiday destinations I want to fly to and some great gift ideas. My organisational side gets completely lost in the tips on how to organise the home and office and as a result I have designed my ideal home, the decoration and the furnishings. For a couple of years now, I have wrapped Christmas presents in brown paper with homemade card bows, with personalised black and white photos, all inspired by Pinterest!

On my office wall I have a notice board. Pinned to it are a note or two; a few business cards, and some inspirational images (I am determined to win the Lotto, Postcode Lottery or Premium Bonds!). It is my visualisation board and also a practical way of keeping my most used information easily to hand. Pinterest users can have many notice boards and pin all sorts of images and videos to them. They can upload these visual delights from their computer or mobile device or pin them directly from a website, creating private boards that only they can see, or boards that can be shared, all helping with inspiration and creativity. People can follow other accounts or just the boards they have an interest in, having the ability to like, comment or re-pin. This is called 'engagement', having great engagement helps with your reach (those who engage with you + their audience). There's an easy search facility on Pinterest, where we can find almost anything, so there is a fantastic opportunity for your pins or boards to be found by an even wider audience!

For these reasons I must use my Pinterest account more for my business and you should too. This platform is a golden opportunity to upload and pin images from our own website or blog which we can link back to. If your social media strategy involves the goal of increasing your website traffic, this is a social media platform not to be missed. When you have set up an account, please come and find me!

Pinterest's full of people like me, indulging in visual candy on a daily basis. More women than men use this platform, and just like Chocolate, us ladies can't resist another piece! Your audience awaits.

Pinterest Analytics
The analytics tool is free and available to accounts that have been verified as a business account. No more having to use a third party, unless of course you require more detailed analytics. If you don't already, start using the data available to make decisions about the effectiveness of your content. Find out when it is best to post, maybe you will find that there is a decline in interest over the weekends, but you get great engagement during the week. Find out what is most repined, most clicked etc...Make Pinterest work for you!

I have verified my account, where do I get the analytics?

  • log in to your account
  • go to the top right corner of your screen
  • click on the cog wheel
  • click on "Analytics"

What does the Pinterest analytics give me?

The impressions; clicks; re-pins and likes that your pins receive.  You can find out who your audience is, their demographics and interests. We are told what boards, brands and businesses that our audience engages with the most.
