Charity Work

There's nothing more rewarding than giving some time to a local charity and where possible utilising the skills you have to benefit them.  I have enjoyed dressing up on numerous occasions to have fun, raise awareness and raise funds for worthy causes.

What I am doing in 2017

On June the 10th I am walking 26.6 miles over the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head to raise funds for the MacMillian Cancer Support. Come and check out my story, and how much I have raised so far!

What I've done in the past

  • Abseiled ~ Despite a fear of heights I have abseiled 128ft down Ocean House in St Leonards
  • Walked miles ~ For two years I participated in the Night to Remember 10 mile walk under the stars in Eastbourne for Chestnut Tree House
  • Walked some more! ~ I walked 16 miles in Sept 2015 to raise money for St Michael's Hospice and Battle Lions (Click this link for more info)
  • Stopped drinking ~ I like my glass of red in the evening, so for Dry January this proved a challenge!

Volunteering

I have volunteered in the past for the Bexhill Lions and for several events organised by the The Sara Lee Trust

Trustee

For 2 years I was a Trustee for The Sara Lee Trust. I used my skills to benefit this charity, providing my time for free.  I set up their Marketing Committee, coordinated their new CMS website, created and published the new content and introduced them to the delights of social media.  I am very proud to have helped this charity to achieve a better online presence. I was sad to hand over the reins at the beginning of 2015.

"Hi Tracey I am a Trustee at Footsteps Counselling and Care www.footstepscandc.org.uk and we are a growing charity shop with a free counselling service to anybody who has been affected by pregnancy related issues etc... We are desperately trying to find the right people to help us grow and of course fund raise, bid write, volunteer roles in the shop, office admin, marketing, trustees and a paid CEO ultimately to guide the charity forward, but always comes down to money! I would love the opportunity to discuss further with you, but appreciate we are in Gloucestershire and I believe in London. Have a lovely weekend. Best wishes Ruth 07881955105"
